Duty Branch is headed by a Deputy Commissioner (Ent.Duty) assisted by two Entertainment Duty Inspectors. According to Bombay Entertainment Duty Act, 1923 Entertainment duty has been imposed on the exhibition of films in the Cinema Halls, Video Halls, and on operating Video Games, Pool Parlors, Cable T.V., Direct to Home Service, Discotheques, Bowling-alley etc.
There are 1784 Cable T.V. Operators and 2,54,062 cable connections as details below
During the last financial year 2004-2005, 9897 Cable Connections were detected and revenue has been increased by Rs. 22.65 Lakhs.as compared to 2004-2005 Rs. 999.33 Lakhs entertainment duty was recovered in the Nashik Division as against the target of Rs.3621-00 Lakhs.
1. To collect the information from the District Collector office of Entertainment tax which includes Tax on Talkies, Tax on Cable Operators, Tax on Video Parlors, Tax on other Entertainment sources in the division and to submit the said information to the State Government. 2. To supervise the work and perform surprise inspections of the cinema talkies, video halls etc. in the division, inspection of the entertainment branch in the office of the Collector and in the office of the Tahsildar . 3. There is a provision of appeal under Sec.10A of the Bombay Entertainment Duty Act, 1923 against the order passed by the Addl. Collector.
